B-PC Technology Updates

Seniors! Take your Google data with you!

2/26/2020

Seniors:

After you leave B-PC, your account will stay active through the following fall. Usually in October, the graduates' email accounts are deactivated to make room for new accounts.

Now is a good time to think about getting anything out of that account that you might want, and create a new, professional email account if you don't have one. Email is an important part of college and job applications, so you want to look legit.

Use some form of your name to create a new email account; do not use cute or humorous aliases or nicknames. This will need to go on a job application someday!
Below are some articles that might be helpful in backing up any data you want to keep. If these articles don't get you what you need, check YouTube and remember that your B-PC Schools account is a G Suite for Education account, which behaves a bit differently than a personal Gmail account.

  • Google Takeout: Export a copy of your account data to be saved or used elsewhere
  • Copy content from your school account to a personal one.
  • Create your own personal Gmail account to store your old B-PC items.

Email Mrs. Webb if you need help or have any questions!

Dual Credit Students: Changes to your accounts

2/25/2020

Dual credit students: The following letter was sent home with you today. Please read it and complete and return the lower portion of the letter.
Dear Dual Credit Student and Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

In an effort to make student access to technology better align with dual credit and college courses, we are making some changes to dual credit students’ B-PC Schools Google accounts. YouTube and Chromebook restrictions will be lifted slightly, allowing more access to resources, and printing will be enabled from Chromebooks at school.

Students will be notified via their “bpcschools.org” email account with more details and instructions when the changes take effect.

Students still assume responsibility for all activity taking place under their accounts, regardless of where the access occurs or what device is used. Students are still required to adhere to our Internet and Technology Policy at all times and account communications, contents, and history still remain the property of Bushnell-Prairie City School District.

Even after changes are made, Bushnell-Prairie City Schools will remain compliant with all federal and state regulations that protect students online and preserve their privacy.

Sign below to acknowledge your receipt and understanding of this notice and detach and return the lower portion to the high school office. To review our Internet and Technology Policy, see Section 7 (p35) of the Student Handbook linked under the “District” section of the district website.

Thank you for your patience as we aim to further personalize student learning experiences.

Sincerely,
Lisa Webb
Technology Coordinator, Bushnell-Prairie City Schools

    Mrs. Webb

As the Technology Coordinator for B-PC Schools, I'm happy to help our students, teachers, and school family with all their technology needs and endeavors!
