Thank you for checking back to review the most recent updates related to the mandated school closings and how this is impacting the Bushnell-Prairie City School community. Please continue to monitor this page. We have had several people question the decision to remain in school tomorrow when some of our neighbors within the region will not be in session and restaurants and bars will be closed at the end of business tomorrow. While the health and safety of our staff and students is a high priority, the need to send students home for an extended period in a calm and reassuring manner is also a priority. The anxiety in students has been building and we hope to address their concerns and calm those fears tomorrow.
Please note:
For families that qualify for free and reduced lunches, vouchers will be available for pick-up in the District Office tomorrow, March 16 and Monday, March 23 from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Please contact the District Office at (309) 772-9461 if you have any questions or if you need help or access to resources during school closures. Hygiene supplies are also available for junior high and high school students. If needed, please encourage your student to take advantage of these items, located in Mr. Harrison’s office at the Junior High and in the Library at the High School.
While the information from county and state agencies continues to evolve, school leaders were notified today that mandated school closings are considered “Acts of God” days and school districts will not be required to make them up at the end of the year.
Thank you to our community partners who continue to offer their support during this difficult time. Take care everyone.
