Governor Pritzker announced an extension to school closings today until May 4 . Teachers continue to work on remote learning activities that will be mailed early next week. Chromebooks will be distributed on Monday to support these efforts. Students are encouraged to stay engaged and participate in learning activities when possible. Teachers and school officials at the local, county, and state level understand that families are under a great deal of stress right now. These learning activities are not intended to increase that stress, but rather provide some routine and sense of "normalcy" for children. You, as a parent or guardian, know best what can be accomplished under your current circumstances. Please continue to reach out to your child's teacher for assistance or if you have questions. School offices will also continue to monitor email and voicemail. All school activities and events previously scheduled during days of school closure are cancelled. When we know more about the remainder of the school year, we'll work through individual events to determine if rescheduling is possible. Stay healthy. We look forward to students returning to school when appropriate. 

A Skylert was issued to share information about the District's plan for remote learning, delivery of breakfast/lunch to families, and Chromebook distribution. Families are asked to complete the forms contained within the Skylert message (via email), but may always contact their school office for assistance. Meals will be delivered once per week, on Mondays from 9am-11am, as long as schools are closed. Our first delivery is scheduled for Monday, April 6. The online form to enroll should be completed no later than Friday, April 3. To receive a Chromebook for student use while schools are closed, please complete the online form (also contained within your email) no later than Thursday, April 2. Chromebooks will be distributed on Monday, April 6 from 11am-1pm and from 5pm-7pm in the B-PC Junior High parking lot. While nothing has been announced, we anticipate and are preparing for school closings to extend beyond April 7. In the event, school closings extend beyond April and into May, prom will not be held as scheduled and we will begin to discuss alternative arrangements for graduation. District employees love seeing what families are doing to keep busy during school closures! Keep posting to Facebook! Knowing that schools will be closed by mandate through at least April 7, 2020, we will again be providing food vouchers for qualifying families next week at the District Office on Monday, March 30, 2020 from 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm. We will maintain the same process used yesterday and ask for a 1 in - 1 out process to insure recommended social distancing. Please contact the District Office at (309) 772-9461 with questions or to seek assistance. The discussions surrounding e-learning around the state continue. We have ongoing concerns that have not been addressed about the inequity this leads to between students who have online access and those who don't. We'll watch for guidance from our Regional Office of Education and the Illinois State Board of Education and work on ideas to be ready. A Skylert has been issued to our school community. It saddens us to share that today, Governor Pritzker announced a state-wide shelter in place and extended the closing of schools through Tuesday, April 7. For now, our current district calendar had staff and students returning on Monday, April 13 following our customary days of non-attendance surrounding Easter weekend. District administration will work with the Board of Education and state agencies to determine if a change is needed to bring students and staff back on Wednesday, April 8, which is the earliest day allowed under the current directive. Our hearts go out to our families struggling with childcare and work closures. I know teachers miss their students and everyone is ready to go back to school. We have not received any additional information regarding extending the school closure, and so remain cautiously optimistic that we'll be able to welcome students back on the 31st. If your child is struggling with the take-home activities, please don't add additional stress to your home.
